Get your horses legs 75% colder in 1/2 the time with this revolutionary new system for managing lower leg injuries.

The 'Bubble Boots' system combines the efficiency of convection cooling with a gentle massage effect of a spa-bath in a portable, horse-safe, easy to use and cost-effective package.

"Bubble Boots are used extensively in my stables every day with dramatic effect!"
Gai Waterhouse (Leading Australian Trainer)

The 'Bubble Boots' system is made from durable rubber, yet is flexible enough to give way in an emergency and not injure the horse. It uses an industrial grade blower renowned for its quietness, reliability and low maintenance.

Most cooling systems rely on ice placed against the leg to cool it down.

Unfortunately the leg is only cooled where the ice actually contacts the leg. Cooling is thus done by the less-efficient conduction method and the ice may actually blister the leg. The 'Bubble Boots' system uses iced water thus eliminating the possibility of 'ice-blistering' and ensuring that the total surface area of the leg is cooled.

By infusing air into the rubber boots, the water is continually agitated around the leg, which increases the efficiency of the heat transfer (ie: cooling) as well as subjecting the leg to a gentle massage effect.

Adequate cooling is achieved in the majority of cases in only ten minutes.

The boots, hosing and blower are portable and with a little training, almost every horse tolerates them very well. The legs are able to be cooled to any level, including above the knees, simply by regulating the water level.

Our experience has shown that a little time spent in properly training the young horse to stand in the 'Bubble Boots' results in unlimited long term use of the system.

The following are offered as training guidelines:

1. Light sedation (such as 'Sedazine' paste) and/or a twitch is usually applied in the initial stages.

2. Stand the horse in the empty boots by lifting one leg in at a time. After a few minutes add enough water to cover the fetlocks.

3. Remove the twitch and allow the horse to stand for a few more minutes before gradually filling the boots with water until the knees are covered. Top up with ice as required. (The twitch may need to be re-applied temporarily at this point). Steps 2 and 3 can be performed on consecutive days if necessary.

4. Only when the horse is comfortable in the full boots should the blower be turned on. The twitch may be required, temporarily, again at this point.

· Most horses can be trained in two sessions.
· Training every young horse is strongly recommended for maximum long-term benefits.
· Applying ice-bandages immediately after the 'Bubble Boots' session significantly improves the cooling effect by delaying the rate at which the leg returns to its normal temperature.
